The majority of our waking hours involve some kind of work - not just jobs, but personal time too.

There are six types of work, required whether you’re working on launching a product, organizing a nonprofit, or planning a vacation. The Working Genius model explains the six types of work and the order of those stages. Each of us has two areas that are considered our Working Geniuses and two areas that are considered our Working Frustrations. There are also two areas in the middle that we neither find completely miserable nor completely joyful, these are our Working Competencies.

The Working Genius Assessment helps anyone identify their gifts and limitations so they can maximize satisfaction and contribution in their work and life. The model helps us understand how we contribute, and why teamwork is so important, since no one person can embody all six geniuses. Teams that use this tool find immediate impact on their productivity, morale, and burnout.

Imagine if every company, every organization, every team knew the areas of genius, competency, and frustration of their people and organized them for success. And imagine if every parent knew those areas of genius for their spouse and children. It’s not an exaggeration to say that there would be more joy and less misery in society. But that has to happen one person at a time. And that person might as well be you. What are your areas of genius?

Understand your areas of genius

Are you naturally curious and constantly looking for opportunity (Wonder), or do your gifts lean more towards evaluating ideas (Discernment) or pushing projects to completion (Tenacity). Through better understanding of your Genius areas, and those of your teams, everyone can be more effective.

The Working Genius Team Map displays a snapshot of each member's Working Genius and Working Frustration. Executive Core facilitators frequently utilize this report in workshops, helping intact teams quickly identify areas of strength and areas of missing Genius. We work with teams to make adjustments that will lead to increased productivity and fulfillment.
